We are excited to feature Dr. Katharine Hayhoe’s plenary talk at the 4th Lausanne Congress in Korea, now available on YouTube.
Do give her session on Faith and the Future of Creation a listen! She insightfully outlines the integration of faith and climate science in this talk, explores the biblical concept of ‘dominion’, examines today’s pressing climate challenges, and a offers theological framing for our practical action in response.
We highly recommend setting aside a few minutes—only 19!—to listen to her talk!
]]>If you’ve read Katharine’s book and want to talk about it – or need an excuse to buy and read it, this is your opportunity! Sponsored by the Evangelical Environmental Network in the US, but open to all. Click here for more information. Find the book here.

]]>Brittany (Ederer) Michalski is hosting a book club on Katharine Hayhoe’s new book, Saving Us. The club runs from September 21 through November 11, and the timing is intended for participants in the US, but night-owls in other parts of the world can certainly join in if you like.
Saving Us, by climate scientist Dr. Katharine Hayhoe, is an invitation to talk about the climate trials we face and the hopeful steps we can take. The book is available for pre-order and ships on September 21st.
Learn how the values you already hold dear, whether family, a vibrant community, or the beauty of creation, connect you to the problem of climate change. Most importantly, learn how to talk about climate change with your friends and family. According to Katharine Hayhoe, talking about climate change is one of our most essential tools for stopping the climate crisis.
A Rocha International recently held an online “Festival” for their entire global family. Besides being a model of how to conduct a conference for hundreds of people over many different time zones (Congratulations, whoever pulled that off! Great job!), the Festival also featured several very high quality and important talks. We requested, and A Rocha have agreed, that these talks be made available to the rest of us. Here’s what’s on offer:
[*Insider tip: a good bit of Katharine’s material is also covered in her new book coming in September. You’ll want to both watch and read… !]
]]>We’re always on the lookout for materials that can be used in a church or Sunday School/small group setting to help people navigate Creation Care generally as well as subtopics like climate change. We’ve just learned about this series from Tearfund:
Christianity and Climate Change: Do you want to take a closer look at the climate crisis and how Christians are called to respond? Christianity and climate change is a nine-part film series featuring Katharine Hayhoe, the internationally renowned Christian climate scientist. In each episode, she responds to climate questions from key church leaders and members in Scotland. You can also find discussion questions and further actions to go with each film in our leader’s guide.
Here’s a list of the topics:
And here is the first episode. Discussion questions are included on the main page here.
One of the most important things you can do to fight climate change according to Dr. Katharine Hayhoe, the WEA’s new Climate Ambassador, is to talk about it. For this reason one of Living the Change’s main programs is designed for you to host a meal and an encouraging conversation with friends and acquaintances about and how to respond as a Christian to the climate emergency. During this season of reflection and recommitment we encourage you to learn more about how to host a Living the Change meal and conversation, and to host a meal with friends by the end of January. The American Association for the Advancement of Science is hosting Katharine Hayhoe and the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Katharine Jefferts Schori, for AAAS’s 2019 Dialogue on Science Ethics and Religion (DoSER) Holiday Lecture. This will be “a discussion on climate change, environmental stewardship, and the ways in which faith communities and scientists are working together to solve one of today’s most pressing issues.”
The lecture will be held in Washington DC ( 1200 New York Ave. NW, Washington, DC ) from 5:30 to 7:15 pm December 17, with a reception to follow. BUT we believe it is also available for streaming online. Check it out and pass the word.
