Resonate Global Mission, under the guidance of Steve Michmerhuizen, is organizing a year-long series of seminar sessions looking at the Christian’s role as steward of God’s creation in Central and Eastern Europe. These sessions will bring together speakers and participants for a 90-minute session and will include presentations by guests with discussion/Q&A time.

Session 1 is next week, 10 March at 13:00 CET and features Pastor Beredi Dusan Bera of Novi Sad (Serbia) and Dave Bookless discussing the topic of God’s Word and Creation Care. Registration is free but required, is limited to 100 people, and with preference given to those in the Central European region.*

The Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies, the Grainger Center for Supply Chain Management, and the Weston Roundtable invite you to explore the future of plastic with engineers and business leaders who are at the forefront of recycling science. Currently, recycling is viewed by many as expensive and difficult with experts estimating that only 9 percent of plastic has been recycled since the 1950s. Today, new technology and an improved understanding of plastic chemistry is helping to make recycling and upcycling easier and less expensive. The Creation Care movement is starting to speed up in Eastern Europe through the efforts of the Hodos Institute and others in the region. Dr. Alexander Negrov has organized an international online seminar primarily for Russian speakers on 20 February 2021 from 18:00 to 21:00 Kyiv time (16:00-19:00 UTC) on the topic Creation Care: Ecotheology and Environmental Leadership. Speakers will include Ed Brown and Dave Bookless from LWCCN, along with Alexander Negrov and Alexander Malov from Hodos Institute.

From 1 to 7 September (that’s a whole week!), Dave will be teaching at Les Courmettes, A Rocha’s beautiful campus overlooking the Mediterranean sea in southern France, the site of the Lausanne/WEA Global Campaign’s Europe conference two years ago. His topic is “Your Kingdom Come: Living with Hope in a Wounded World”. Part of the seminar description:

We live in an era of ecological disaster and fear, with predictions of disastrous climate change, loss of wildlife, plastic pollution and waste. In addition, many are in despair at economic, social and political trends which cause injustice, division and poverty. What is the Bible’s message to today’s context? How does caring for creation relate to the Gospel message? Is the task of the church to prepare people for heaven, or to seek transformation here and now? How can and should we live with hope, wonder and joy in a world of wounds?
