Registration is open for the 9th Micah Global Consultation, to be held in Cape Town South Africa from 29 September till 2 October 2025.

Micah Global is a world-wide network of Christians active in relief, development, creation care and advocacy. The overall theme will be ‘Walking Together in Hope’, looking at worrying developments in many parts of the world and how we respond with justice, integrity and compassion.

Creation Care will be one of four major streams within the consultation, and we’d love to have LWCCN members take part, although we have no finance to support your attendance. You can apply at https://micahglobal.org/networks/events/170276

Free online: Non-toxic Solutions for Wildlife Conflict http://news.lwccn.com/2021/02/free-online-non-toxic-solutions-for-wildlife-conflict/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=free-online-non-toxic-solutions-for-wildlife-conflict Mon, 01 Feb 2021 19:45:00 +0000 http://news.lwccn.com/?p=858
5 Things You May Not Know About Human - Wildlife Conflict ...

As the human community expands across the globe, more and more communities find themselves in conflict with the animals that used to live where people have taken over. From elephants in India and Africa to wolves in the US, such conflict is economically damaging for people and often deadly for the animals involved.

FreeMeWildlife, an organization in South Africa, is offering a free Zoom conference on Non-toxic Solutions for Wildlife Conflict 18 February at 1500 UTC (we think; check the posting for time in your area):

Join Michaela White this February for an in-depth talk about the various non-toxic methods that can be used in human/wildlife conflict situations. From an overpopulation of rodents, bats in rooves, or even if you have little critters using your home as a nesting site. Allow us to assist you with how to correctly deal with these problems to benefit both yourself and the animal affected! This talk will take place on Zoom. Please book your spot through Facebook or by emailing adminsupport@freemekzn.co.za

There appears to be a nominal charge for those not affiliated with the organization.

World Day of Prayer for Creation: Report from South Africa http://news.lwccn.com/2020/12/world-day-of-prayer-for-creation-report-from-south-africa/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=world-day-of-prayer-for-creation-report-from-south-africa Wed, 02 Dec 2020 19:22:02 +0000 http://news.lwccn.com/?p=805

Rachel Mash, indefatigable creation care leader in South Africa and beyond, sent us this report on activities in her area during the recent World Day of Prayer celebrations.

The 1st of September is the World Day of Prayer for Creation and we normally plan an ecumenical service. In order to take it on line, a relationship was formed with youth from the Lutheran, Methodist, Catholic and DRC churches – and an organisation formed #together4creation.  A wonderful online service was held with input from each denomination.  Our guest speaker from the Green Lutherans shared his message from the car due to load shedding – where there is a will there is a way! One of the most powerful moments was when a young woman shared how working in the garden had helped to bring her healing after the loss of her father.

A joint video was prepared explaining the meaning and challenge of Season of Creation and Sunday meditations prepared by clergy from each denomination.

There will be a “Repurpose” Competition in the school holidays, you make something new ( re-purpose) from  a plastic item such as a plastic bottle and the most creative idea will win a prize.

The team gathered for a ‘nurdle clean up’ (nurdles are tiny pieces of plastic that are used to make plastic items) at Muizenberg Beach  and a planning session for the way forward.

You can join  #together4creation on our facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/1177425282625857/
